Improving Operational Efficiency at London Heathrow
London Heathrow (LHR) is the 3rd busiest airport in the world, handling more international flights than any other airport.
With over 200,000 departing & arriving passengers on a given day, 37% transferring to a further destination, the allocation, deployment and management of their 5,000 staff is critical to achieving continued operational efficiency.
LHR has been using ChromaPredict to generate passenger demand forecasts since 2000 and generates a 95-98% accurate forecast of demand throughout a given day of operation at 15 minute intervals.
This forecast is fed into ChromaRMS, allowing a demand-based resource plan and deployment schedule to be created based on a detailed understand of how passenger arrivals and departures will impact the operation.
Using a Forecast > Plan > Roster > Deploy methodology allows LHR to adopt a more proactive before and on-the-day approach to resource planning.
Using queue time data from ChromaACDB, LHR can quickly identify any deviation from expected demand, understand the impact and re-allocate the correct resources accodingly.
This integrated approach to resource planning gives LHR the ability to deal with variations to on-the-day supply of staff, unplanned changes in demand and, ultimately, deliver a more efficient customer service.
